Host a Workshop

Workshops are an ideal way of learning the basics of TTouch so that you can then go and use it with your own animals. Workshops are strictly limited to a maximum of 20 human participants, depending on venue and type of workshop. Normally the number of dogs attending is far fewer. The emphasis in a workshop is on hands-on learning in an informal and fun environment. You will have the opportunity to practice with other people and with your own or others’ dogs, so that you will gain practical skills to be able to take away with you.

I am available by arrangement to run these TTouch workshops anywhere in the UK so if you would like to host one close to you, please get in touch. I charge £150 for one day or £250 for a weekend, plus travel/accommodation at cost. This includes a PDF of a booklet that can either be printed or distributed to participants. You arrange the venue, manage bookings, provide refreshments, and publicise and organise the day (though I will of course help with publicity where I can).

If you are interested in hosting a workshop, please complete the enquiry form and I will get in touch.

If you would like something not on this list please ask and I will try to accommodate your needs.

Full day workshops:

  • Canine Confidence 1: Introduction to building confidence in dogs through TTouch: focusing particularly on observation of tension patterns and learning TTouch bodywork, with a brief introduction to other areas of TTouch (groundwork and wraps).
  • Canine Confidence 2: Designed for those with a basic knowledge of TTouch, this workshop demonstrates how TTouch can help address a number of confidence issues in dogs, for example, reactivity and aggression, noise and firework sensitivity, touch sensitivity, fearfulness. Note: Canine Confidence 1 & 2 can be run together as a two day or weekend workshop.
  • TTouch for Show Dogs: Covers TTouches, groundwork and wraps most useful for issues like preparation for handling, gait issues, and anxiety in the ring.
  • Coping with Fireworks: Focuses on the use of TTouch and wraps to address the particular issue of noise sensitivity to fireworks and thunderstorms.
  • TTouch for Canine Professionals: a one day workshop aimed at trainers, groomers, vets, vet nurses, dog walkers and sitters, focusing on how TTouch can help with handling dogs, helping them to cope in stressful situations, and enabling them to learn more effectively.
  • Reactive Dog Rehab: Uses TTouch and other positive training to help dogs that are reactive to other dogs or to people (two day or weekend workshop)

Half day workshops:

  • TTouch for Puppies: Shows how TTouch can be used to help puppies develop into healthy, well adjusted, sociable adults.
  • TTouch for Older Dogs: Shows how TTouch can be used to provide support for older dogs, particularly maintaining mobility and gently aiding relaxation.
  • Stop pulling! Loose lead walking the TTouch way: Introduces TTouch leading techniques and shows how these can be used together with reward-based training, to teach even the strongest puller how to walk on a loose lead.
  • TTouch for Rescues: Introduces key TTouch approaches that can be used in rescue centres to help with stressed and anxious dogs, aid handling and generally improve adoptability. Note: this workshop is offered free to bona fide rescues on an expenses-only basis.

Note:
Workshops are intended for active participation. You are welcome to bring a dog but you can participate fully without one. Workshops numbers are limited to ensure dogs are comfortable but those attending must be able to spend some part of the day in the car or quietly in a crate and should not be too stressed to be in the company of people or other dogs. Dogs can be worked separately and some work may take place outside (weather and venue permitting) but it may still be too much for very reactive or anxious dogs. In such cases, you are encouraged to come without your dog and then work afterwards on your dog at home. If you are unsure whether to bring your dog please ask. Courses for reactive dogs are strictly limited in numbers (to 6 dogs).
